mentoring
Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much. ~ Helen Keller
One of the joys of studying mathematics is sharing it with others. As a firm believer of Professor Federico Ardila’s Axioms of Mathematics, I am actively involved in promoting better access for underrepresented groups in math and science. I have met some pretty amazing people while carrying out these outreach initiatives.
- I volunteered as a counselor at my first Mathematics Project at Minnesota (MPM) in January 2025! MPM empowers underrepresented groups in mathematics through mentoring, connecting students with opportunities and resources, and facilitating community building.
- In Fall 2024, I participated in panels advising graduate students on making strong fellowship applications (GEMM) and mentoring undergraduates with REU applications (Math Club).
- In Summer 2024, I mentored two undergraduate students in creating a Causal Inference Python Library alongside Mayleen Cortez and Matt Eichhorn.
- I was a 2023 - 2024 Center for Applied Mathematics Peer Mentoring Program Co-Coordinator with Mayleen Cortez and Tayler Fernandes-Nunez. The Peer Mentoring Program supports first-year Applied Math PhD students transitioning to the demands of graduate school.
- I served as the student coordinator of the 2021 Summer Institute in Mathematics and Science, a 3-week academic preparation and research training program for incoming first-year students intending to enroll at UCSB directly from high school in the Fall 2021.
