Emily Lopez

I am a third year doctoral student at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Mathematics PhD Program advised by Professor Li Wang. My research focuses on developing numerical methods inspired by optimal transport theory to solve stochastic inverse problems.

I became fascinated with the intersection of mathematical statistics and analysis through my undergraduate research supervised by Professor Katy Craig while at the University of California Santa Barbara College of Creative Studies. Before coming to UMN, I studied causal inference with network interference under the guidance of Cornell ORIE Professor Christina Lee Yu. My PhD work is graciously supported by the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
